A classical education forms students who are able to present themselves in a winsome and eloquent manner. Drama invites our students to develop these skills while pursuing the creative arts. Students at every grade level can be found performing in-class skits and preparing for interactive recitations, but our Upper School students have the opportunity to dive deeper into performance through annual Middle School and High School plays.

Drama

Middle School

Middle School Drama introduces students to the fundamentals of acting and stagecraft as they prepare a play or a collection of dramatic excerpts to perform at the end of the semester.

High School

In High School, Drama students sharpen and deepen their theatrical training by studying and performing a play by William Shakespeare.

Drama in the Classroom

In keeping with a classical classroom, students are invited to practice the art of memorization, recitation, and public speaking from their earliest days at Augustine School. During this season when young children find it easy and fun to memorize, they are given ample opportunities to recite dramatic narration, poetry, storytelling and more as a part of their daily classroom experience. As students grow older, they are equipped with the tools they need to express themselves and communicate eloquently and persuasively. All students participate in quarterly recitations to demonstrate their proficiency in public communication and dramatic interpretation to the broader Augustine School community.
