Augustine School's athletics program offers a wide array of benefits to all of our students. Athletes are given the opportunity to strengthen both body and character through the competition and discipline of team sports. They receive valuable training in perseverance, teamwork, self-control, and generosity in both defeat and victory. These athletic pursuits offer lifelong benefits in strengthening the body, mind, and character while providing additional mentorship from fellow athletes and coaches.

Athletics

Not all students feel compelled to compete at the level to which middle or high school sports demand. Therefore, Augustine School's house system makes athletics accessible to all. By offering various inter-house sports that are easy to learn and require less time commitment, students are still able to reap the benefits of physical activity and competition while having fun with their classmates throughout the year. Ultimately, Augustine athletics offer students the opportunity to challenge their bodies and grow in godly virtue.

Hear From Our Coaches:

“My hope high above winning at any one event is to help these children cultivate a lifelong love of running, no matter their speed. Not everyone will keep with it, but it’s a vital spiritual discipline for myself that I love sharing. We don’t speak negatively in regards to exercise or label people as ‘runners’ or ‘not’ - it’s something most people can do, and it does require the adjustment of conditioning. But I encourage them that sticking through the discomfort and pain are so worth it for the freedom and strength and joy on the other side.”

— Nicoll Burleson, Elementary Cross Country

“I have witnessed incredible growth in our athletes as they have learned the need to work as a team in this sport. The most important aspect of the game is to play as "one." As they practice and learn more about the sport I can see their attitudes slowly turning toward the team instead of self. It is a beautiful picture of Christ as I see them become increasingly selfless for the good of others.”

— Jen Bowen, Upper School Volleyball
